Beginning his career with Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, where he had lived since his childhood, Eric made his Spurs debut on the first day of the 2014/15 season and marked it with a sensational late winner against West Ham United at Upton Park.

On his home debut a week later, the versatile defensive star repeated the feat as he scored in our 4-0 win over QPR at White Hart Lane. Eric has been a constant presence in our starting XI ever since, whether that be in defence or the heart of midfield.
He has become a regular in England's international set-up since making his debut in 2015 and he was part of the Three Lions squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, having also featured at Euro 2016. Eric made 39 appearances in all competitions in 20/21. Highlights included scoring from the spot as we toppled Chelsea on penalties in the League Cup and reaching 250 appearances for us in a 1-0 win at West Brom in November, 2020. He started in the League Cup Final against City in April, 2021, his third cup final appearance for the Club.
